The Downs trip via Murphys & Heifer Creeks.

This is the first touring trip I have undertaken on a push bike. It was more of a test run to determine the bike and more importantly my own physical ability to handle a fully loaded bike on a 5 day trip. To reduce the amount of luggage to be carried I decided not to camp but stay at hotels or motels, although one night was spent with friends.

As I have lived in some of the towns I travelled through, I have not given much of a commentary on the sights and things to do and see. What I hope I have accomplished is give information on the road, traffic and other conditions that will help any prospective rider who maybe planning a similar trip on the routes I have taken.

You will notice that I have avoided busy highways and purposely chosen to take the minor roads even though they are longer and may not have have as many things to see from a tourists point of view, but I have a particular hate of mixing it with traffic (even moderate traffic). There is nothing worse than riding on a country road with no shoulder and having traffic comming from both directions at the same time.

Note that the directions associated with Google Maps have extra directions that I think take you to the Post Office of towns visited.
