Job Start database

The Job Start database resides on an SQL Server database server and is created as part of the install of Job Start on the Job Start administrators PC. Although you can have any number of Job Start administrators there is only one Job Start database required.

For the technically minded, SQL Server security is configured in the normal way and to the level which your site demands. What Job Start does is add an extra layer of security (within Job Start) so that users are only able to see, and therefore run, jobs to which they have been authorised. When a user runs a job, the job is invoked within SQL Server by an SQL Server authenticated account to which the user has been given access to use. This SQL Server authenticated account is associated with a proxy account and job steps that require it will run under the security context of this proxy account.
